Job Summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a highly skilled Surplus Asset Sales Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing the sales of surplus utility assets, including construction equipment, tools, obsolete inventory, fleet vehicles, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with operating departments to manage and support the liquidation of surplus assets.
  • Provide guidance on asset disposition strategy, technical options, and valuation estimates.
  • Evaluate assets for marketability and most economical disposition.
  • Appraise assets and establish pricing.
  • Analyze markets for pricing trends and emerging opportunities.
  • Develop and administer competitive bid offerings for sales of assets.
  • Negotiate investment recovery transactions to maximize revenue and minimize expense.
  • Execute sale contracts and manage payment remittance for settlement of proceeds and related accounting processes.
  • Assure integrity of financial transactions and compliance with company policy, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engagement with legal, environmental, regulatory, safety, and accounting areas as required for more complex transactions.
  • Contribute to monthly and annual reporting of investment recovery outcomes, functional performance, and sustainability metrics.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, technical/analytical field, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of sales, purchasing, logistics, or other relevant supply chain experience.
  • Experience in plant or utility operations preferred.
  • Contract knowledge required.
  • Sales, negotiation, sourcing, and supplier relationships experience preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Manager of Investment Recovery (CMIR) or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Up to 10% travel; driver's license required.
