The Financial Accountant II is expected to possess a solid understanding of US GAAP and demonstrate the ability to assess the relevance and accuracy of journal entries recorded in the general ledger. This includes evaluating the appropriateness of GL accounts and their classification within financial statements. The role requires ensuring that all necessary supporting documentation is attached to journal entries and verifying the reliability of the information used. In certain instances, this may involve estimating current month activities based on historical financial analysis.

The Financial Accountant II is also responsible for conducting variance analysis related to assigned accounts, providing insights to accounting leads and managers during month-end financial reviews. Continuous learning and openness to feedback are essential for enhancing performance and expanding knowledge of accounting principles.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Self-Leadership, Team Leadership, or Executive Leadership.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries in compliance with GAAP, ensuring complete and accurate documentation.
  • Conduct variance analysis on assigned accounts, providing detailed explanations for month-end financial reviews.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned areas.
  • Support accounting leads and managers with information requests from various teams as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience is required.
  • Experience in General Ledger accounting and familiarity with healthcare accounting is preferred.
  • Candidates pursuing CPA licensure are preferred; support may be available for those seeking certification.
