Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant II to join our team at Mission Foods. This role will be responsible for providing financial analysis and reporting support to assigned functional areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting, management reporting, and analysis for assigned functional areas.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  • Prepare analysis of management reporting for financial results for assigned functional areas.
  • Provide monthly reports and accompanying schedules analyzing variances in actual results to budget, prior periods, and other as required by management.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to assigned functional areas.
  • Maintain the fixed asset system to ensure proper recording of new purchases, disposals, and depreciation according to company policies and accounting guidelines.
  • Perform cash management functions, including monitoring cash transactions and investigating any unusual items.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and resolve unreconciled items.
  • Maintain cost accounting system, including setting up new products, making estimates for new and proposed product costs, analyzing actual manufacturing costs to standard costs, and other reports and analysis as required by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience required.
  • CPA a plus.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Expected to work with minimal guidance and take ownership of his/her work product.
  • Intermediate understanding of internal controls, accounting standards, and guidelines.
  • Requires proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Must be highly skilled in the use of Excel and skilled in the use of Word.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting systems with experience using SAP preferred.
