Bodor, a leading manufacturer of laser cutting machinery, is seeking a skilled Customer Service Engineer to join its U.S. subsidiary, Bodorlaser Inc. in Schaumburg, Illinois. As a key member of the sales and marketing team, you will provide technical support to customers, troubleshoot laser machine issues, and ensure optimal performance of our equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing direct support via phone, email, chat, and on-site visits.
- Assist customers with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems, taking appropriate action to resolve issues.
- Track technical issues and incoming requests from customers, managing schedules and follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Perform mechanical repairs on laser machines at customer locations, determining if repairs require special resources or parts.
- Understand layout drawings and blueprints for equipment installation.
- Develop and maintain a parts list, ensuring timely communication with customers, staff, vendors, and manufacturers.
- Identify safety issues on machines and provide customer training.
- Write and compose service reports and expense reports.
- Perform failure mode analyses and make upgrade recommendations.
- Assist with final integration and commissioning of complex automation projects as needed.
- Assist with heavy mechanical moves, such as loading/unloading equipment onto trucks as needed.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in mechatronic, automation engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, or equivalent with 2+ years of experience on automated CNC machines.
- Recent experience installing, repairing, and diagnosing problems with automated CNC machines.
- Familiarity with engineering software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.
- Able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and test equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and remote communications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-driven and responsible.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to travel as required (local and domestic).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechatronic, automation engineering, or electrical engineering from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of related experience on automated CNC machines.
