Job Title: Public Health Investigator

Job Summary:

The Public Health Investigator is responsible for enforcing laws, ordinances, and regulations related to communicable and non-communicable diseases. This includes conducting investigations, interviewing patients, and educating individuals on risk reduction techniques and behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations to locate cases and contacts of communicable diseases, such as tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Interview patients to determine contacts and convince them to voluntarily seek diagnosis and treatment.
  • Counsel individuals on the nature and control of their disease and educate them on risk reduction techniques and behaviors.
  • Enforce public health laws, rules, and regulations governing communicable disease control.
  • Transport patients in connection with the enforcement of legal orders pertaining to the isolation of such patients in a hospital or detention facility.
Requirements:
  • One year's experience as a Public Health Investigator Trainee.
  • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in investigation or inspection work in Public Health or Law Enforcement.
  • A Master's degree from an accredited university in Public Health or Related field of study.
Working Conditions:

The Public Health Investigator works in a fast-paced environment and may be required to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. The position requires moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting.
