Job Summary

Healthcare Staffing Professionals, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Public Health Outreach Specialist to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in outreach activities to reach highly vulnerable clients in non-clinical settings at risk of or experiencing syphilis.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement with the community and vulnerable persons to inform about sexual and reproductive health care services offered.
  • Assist and support clinical staff with field testing and treatment.
  • Assist with client tracking and patient reminders.
  • Perform client intake and assist with patient flow during outreach.
  • Contribute to case conference reviews and shares findings and lessons learned to improve programmatic response.
  • Transport DHSP patients by county vehicle for sexual health specific appointments as needed and provides field medication dispensing for STD treatment.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for client access to departmental and community resources.
  • Attend staff and team meetings and completes all required trainings to be compliant with departmental and divisional policies and protocols

Requirements:

  • A valid California Class C Driver License.
  • Ability to operate a computer to obtain lab results, log clinic visits, and input/retrieve data.
  • Locally based and open to working with street/homeless populations and out in the field in outreach locations as needed.
  • Experience working with target populations to provide cultural and linguistically appropriate health education.
  • Spanish speaking skills desirable, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills.
  • Knowledge of the community and familiarity with Los Angeles street populations.
  • Ability to drive the equipped van as needed.
  • Ability to remain calm and be resourceful in emergency situations and maintain a professional demeanor at all times
