It affects the quality, efficiency, and productivity of the team. At GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation, our facility serves as a hub for all Aviation Power Engineering activities. Here, engineers have the opportunity to apply their technical expertise and skills. Our team is dedicated to pioneering new technologies and delivering cutting-edge products, including Hybrid Electric aircraft and advanced military platforms. The facility boasts a comprehensive 155,000 sq ft laboratory equipped with 6 high-power test cells, an EMI chamber, an electronics lab, a rapid prototype lab, and a real-time simulator lab, all featuring state-of-the-art equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties
  • Design and develop high-voltage power electronic circuits and components tailored for the aviation sector, focusing on converters and inverters.
  • Provide technical guidance to a cross-functional team engaged in project execution.
  • Participate in and present findings during technical review sessions.
  • Formulate and implement strategies to fulfill technical program requirements in collaboration with suppliers, manufacturing, and other relevant disciplines.
  • Identify and develop action plans to resolve issues related to power electronics as they emerge in programs.
  • Offer technical assistance for various customer proposals.
  • Develop specialized expertise in power electronics.
  • Stay informed about the latest technological advancements in the field.
  • Contribute to the formulation of strategies and policies, ensuring effective delivery within the designated area of responsibility.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of best practices and understand how the area integrates with others; maintain awareness of competitive factors that distinguish the organization in the market.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a power electronics engineering capacity.
  • This position requires access to technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions; only U.S. Citizens are eligible for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aviation electrical power engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in designing power electronic circuits.
  • Experience with high-voltage and high-power converters/inverters.
  • Familiarity with EMI (common mode and differential mode), transformers, semiconductor switches, and various PWM schemes.
  • Simulation experience using PLECS or similar tools.
  • Knowledge and design experience with 3-phase motor/generator systems.
  • Strong expertise in electrical circuit design and layout.
  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex problems.
