Commercial Lines Auditor Role at Selective Insurance

Selective Insurance is a reputable U.S. domestic property and casualty insurance company known for its strong financial performance and commitment to providing excellent service to customers.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Lines Auditor to join our team. As a Senior Commercial Lines Auditor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy of earned premiums, classifications, and exposures for Property/Casualty Commercial Line policies.

About the Job
This position involves performing audits on Commercial Line policies to ensure compliance with company, industry, and government rules and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Scheduling and conducting physical or virtual audits for selected Commercial Lines policies based on auditable exposures.
  • Reviewing the insured's business operations, examining and recording data from financial/business records, evaluating subcontractor operations, and detailing exposures according to manual rules.
  • Verifying claims data and determining premium basis and classification.
  • Managing territory and inventory to optimize efficiencies and meet customer needs.
  • Traveling to insured locations, representing approximately 70-80% of the employee's time.
  • Notifying the underwriting team of any changes in exposures, business operations, products/services, or other relevant information.
  • Responding to and resolving audit disputes with Manager/Senior Auditor guidance.

Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, applicants should possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • Able to remain informed about insurance manuals, premium audit manuals, handbooks, guides, and related materials.
  • Effective communication and independent work skills.
  • Proficiency in computer tools, including Microsoft Excel and Internet research applications.
  • A valid state-issued driver's license and ability to travel to insured locations as required.
  • A college degree in Insurance, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (desired) or relevant work experience.
  • Premium Audit experience (1 year) and Underwriting experience (2 years), Accounting experience (2 years).

Salary Information
The expected starting salary range for this Senior Commercial Lines Auditor role is $59,000-$112,000. The actual base salary will be determined by geographic location, and the provided range represents salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
