Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain PLC control systems and operator interfaces for both large-scale and smaller projects. Responsible for programming, hardware networking, and communication; troubleshoot and rectify failures; oversee the complete implementation of industrial control systems addressing both hardware and software issues.
  • Support internal initiatives, including upgrades to plant control systems. Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and parts specifications.
  • Engage in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting: Contribute to predictive and preventative maintenance programs, utilizing electro-mechanical expertise to address issues and perform maintenance on conveyors, blenders, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Foster a safe and tidy work environment by adhering to cleanliness protocols. Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and guidelines, and communicate potential electrical/mechanical issues to management and engineering teams. Participate in safety and staff meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in maintaining and repairing existing electrical systems, as well as assisting with the installation of new systems and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain facility electrical systems to meet production demands, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Plan, design, install, and repair a diverse range of complex electrical equipment, including automated machinery and process controls.
  • Demonstrate a high level of urgency in responding to trouble calls.
  • Document all installations, preventative maintenance, and repairs through work orders and downtime logs. Collaborate with Operators, Production Managers, and Engineering Teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts and prioritize preventative maintenance tasks in alignment with production schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with Engineering Team Leaders, Production Managers, and fellow Engineers while working in production areas.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Parts Coordinator to maintain adequate parts inventory, providing necessary descriptions and quantities.
  • Participate in all Engineering and safety meetings.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrical service technician or in an industrial repair setting, with a focus on electrical systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical and electronic components, including the use of diagnostic instruments.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, sketches, and specifications.
  • Proficient in understanding schematics, electrical layouts, electrical codes, and the operation of various bending tools.
