Job Summary:

Southwest Electric Co. is seeking a skilled Electrical Motor Technician to join our team. As a Motor Winder, you will be responsible for providing winding support on various kinds of electric motors based on wiring diagrams and repair orders. You will manufacture and install wound and random wound coils on AC/DC electric motors, generators, armatures, rotors, stator coils, and related electrical components. Your duties will include reviewing wiring diagrams and repair orders, installing coils in stators, cutting wire to form leads, connecting coils by means of silver soldering, testing coils for winding continuity, and installing leads to windings by means of hydraulic crimping. You will also complete Process Control Records completely and accurately, safely operate various overhead cranes, forklifts, and handheld power tools, and support supervisors with various other plant assignments as needed. You will observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear.

Requirements:

Knowledge of basic electric concepts, hydraulics, and electrical and mechanical systems. Ability to read charts, diagrams, drawings, and blueprints. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and physical. Complete a satisfactory nationwide criminal background check. Ability to lift 50 + lbs., climb ladders, walk, and stand or sit for extended periods of time.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED. 2+ years' experience winding, servicing, and repairing industrial electric motors. A minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience in electrical/mechanical repair, motor shop servicing, or completion of an accredited EASA or military training program. Ability to work independently or as part of a team as applicable. Requires diagnostic troubleshooting, disassembly, measurement, data collection, failure analysis, repair, re-assembly, testing, and safety abilities at a career skilled tradesman level.
