ROLE SUMMARY

As an Engagement Coordinator and Transportation Specialist, you will be instrumental in designing, organizing, and executing a dynamic activities program; creativity and empathy are essential components of this role. You will interact with residents experiencing dementia, Alzheimer's, and/or memory-related challenges, ensuring their full participation and adapting activities to meet their unique needs.

Your responsibilities may also include transporting residents to appointments, scheduled events, grocery store outings, and other activities requiring transportation using company vehicles, while adhering to safe driving practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and coordinate engaging activities for residents
  • Establish trusting, professional relationships with residents, families, and care partners
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while facilitating scheduled activities
  • Engage residents in both small and large group settings
  • Assess individual resident interests and communicate them to the Activities Manager
  • Assist residents with their personal preferences for daily activities
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote meaningful resident engagement
  • Provide personalized one-on-one interaction with residents
  • Support documentation of assessments, participation records, and other required information
  • Assist in creating community flyers and event announcements
  • Encourage resident participation in activities to maximize engagement
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude while leading activities
  • Possess basic computer skills to assist with flyers and newsletters
  • Empathize with and address resident concerns
  • Assist residents with certain daily living activities as needed
  • Capable of lifting equipment and assisting residents in and out of vehicles, as well as aiding with mobility
  • May be required to operate company vehicles for resident and associate transportation
  • Other duties may be assigned by your direct supervisor. Regular and reliable attendance is a crucial aspect of this role.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED, or a combination of relevant experience
  • Experience is preferred but not mandatory
  • Basic mathematical, technical, and reasoning skills to fulfill essential job functions
  • Must be at least 21 years old and have held a valid California Driver's License for a minimum of five years

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, brief correspondence, and memos in English to ensure the safety and well-being of residents
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and present information in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Maintain professionalism and respect while interacting with residents, family members, and staff, in alignment with the Carlton Way
  • Must be proficient in using technology, such as company-provided phones and tablets, to communicate resident needs among staff
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide appropriate work authorization documentation
  • Completion of DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance is required before working in the community (arranged through the community)
  • Health screening/Physical and negative TB test must be less than six months old (arranged through the community)
  • First Aid/CPR Certification (arranged through the community)
  • Must possess a valid CA Driver's License with fewer than two moving violations or accidents in the past five years
  • Must provide a DMV driving record prior to employment
