Job Summary

The City of Takoma Park is seeking a Recreation Programs Assistant to support the Recreation Department's sports programs. This is a dynamic role that requires the ability to work evenings and weekends, with varying schedules depending on the season.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record game statistics and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, leadership, and supervision to sports leagues.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and security of gym facilities.
  • Maintain and operate equipment and supplies, promoting proper use among participants.
  • Prepare reports, maintain records, and provide information for programs.
  • Enforce facility, equipment, and program rules, implementing disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Monitor patrons and ensure adherence to rules and guidelines.
  • Assist with public inquiries, providing information about programs and services.
  • Administer first aid, if required.
Requirements
  • Ability to provide mature leadership, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of sports, officiating, and scorekeeping.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, promote good sportsmanship, and demonstrate punctuality.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR training.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is expected to be between $17.17-$17.95, with the actual rate determined by the candidate's experience and qualifications.
