Job Opportunity

The Village of Orland Park is seeking a Recreation Instructor II to join our Special Recreation Division. Our team provides positive and healthy recreation programming focused on leisure, social, educational, and vocational opportunities for individuals with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assist participants in our Special Recreation programs, ensuring a successful program experience.
  • Implement inclusive and adaptive activities to promote optimal experience for participants with special needs.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate special recreation programs.
  • Communicate regularly with Senior Coordinators and Supervisor about programming needs.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in education or recreation, including therapeutic recreation or special education experience working with individuals with special needs.
  • 30 college credit hours in Therapeutic Recreation or a closely related field.
  • Ability to manage behavior in a special needs environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment

This position requires flexibility, with a schedule of up to 19 hours per week, mostly evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate will have a positive team-oriented attitude and be able to build sound relationships and foster new partnerships.
