Medical Assistant - Oncology Specialist

US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant - Oncology Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Assistant - Oncology Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in our oncology clinic.

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
  • Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain all necessary patient records and verify consent prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Provide patient education and distribute educational literature as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
  • Minimum two years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment may occur.
  • Candidates will be required to show proof of being vaccinated against influenza upon commencing employment.
