Job Summary

The HR Project Manager provides strategic planning, coordination, and reporting for assigned projects within the HR portfolio. This role requires applying PMI methodologies to support staff and contract resources in achieving goals and schedules.

The individual shall ensure good coordination between stakeholders, engage project teams and members, and make recommendations to HR Leadership for resolving obstacles impacting project goals.

This position supports HR-wide initiatives and operates within a project-oriented, matrix organization environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and document project scope and goals in collaboration with HR organizational managers.
  • Create a detailed work plan identifying and sequencing activities needed to complete projects.
  • Determine resources required to complete projects, including time, money, equipment, and personnel.
  • Work with volunteers, staff, and contracted resources to ensure requirements and deliveries are generated in support of project initiatives.
  • Initiate outreach to potential partners and provide research on new opportunities and potential program partners.
  • Manage day-to-day logistics and activities of projects in accordance with IEEE policies and procedures.
  • Manage assigned contractors or vendors and their performance to ensure contractual obligations and deadlines are met.
  • Negotiate contractual work requirements and manage vendor agreements.
  • Perform analysis and forecasting of project deliverables and finances.
  • Generate reports on project and portfolio project status.
  • Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for funders and partners as outlined in funding agreements.
  • Determine and implement approved measures upon which the project will be evaluated.
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy for assigned projects and programs.
  • Provide direction and support, as well as contribute to written materials positively positioning the organization and its programs.
  • Develop and monitor performance metrics for various communications strategies and vehicles.
  • Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders, including appropriate staff in the organization, on the progress of the project.
  • Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets project standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • ~4-7 years of work experience.
  • ~3-5 years of project management experience.
  • ~3-5 years of human resources experience.
  • PMI Project Manager Certification and/or previous management-related professional association experience with a record of successful project leadership experience is highly desired.
  • Strong skills in working with spreadsheet analysis and databases, and Project Management Software (i.e. MS Project).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to understand complex verbal and written user business requirements and translate those into well-written clear proposals, requirements, and specifications documents and project plans.
  • Ability to multi-task and be comfortable working under tight deadlines on both individual and team-based projects.
  • Available for occasional travel to events and meetings.
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills to enable and empower project participant efforts in support of assigned projects.
