About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Auto Appraiser to join our team at Mercury Insurance. As a key member of our Claims department, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our customers receive fair and timely settlements for their vehicle damage claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and evaluate physical damage to vehicles for first and third-party claims, completing detailed summaries of damage and estimates of repair costs.
  • Present estimates and negotiate settlements with repair facilities and related parties, ensuring equitable settlements and maintaining good customer service and shop relations.
  • Research and analyze current market information to support total loss settlements, gathering and analyzing data to determine the total cash value of vehicles and parts.
  • Take photographs of vehicles and physical damage to aid in the determination of liability and to substantiate findings, submitting compliant reports and documentation.
  • Perform re-inspections and authorize supplemental repairs as necessary to ensure quality service and thorough restoration of damage.
  • Maintain communication with clients throughout the repair process, reporting initial evaluations and summaries of damage, explaining relevant procedures, and responding to customer inquiries.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of auto appraising experience, with knowledge of Mitchell or CCC estimating software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 6 months of technical training in automotive repair.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and other stakeholders, explaining the estimation and repair process while negotiating fair settlements.
  • Strong analytical ability to make complex, accurate assessments of damage and repairability, with a solid understanding of automobile components, current values, and repair estimating practices.
  • Ability to work independently and under minimum supervision, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills to complete field assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
