Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and integration of dynamic optomechanical military systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of optomechanical systems, including lasers, receivers, and sensors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and test complex IR technology products.
  • Develop and implement innovative mechanical engineering solutions to meet demanding customer requirements.
  • Perform detailed design and analysis, including thermal, structural, and vibration analysis.
  • Conduct test and verification efforts to ensure product performance and integrity.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years' experience (6+ with a master's degree).
  • Demonstrated experience in product development and support of DoD military electronics equipment.
  • Leadership experience in HW engineering teams in the design and development of military systems.
  • Working experience with lasers, receivers, fiber optics, and/or related IR technologies.
  • Solid fundamentals of mechanical design, analysis, and documentation principles.
  • Experience with state-of-the-art mechanical engineering development software tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including development of engineering documentation and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge/experience with optomechanical designs and developments.
  • Knowledge of MIL specs and standards, industry standards including ASTM, SAE, DO.
  • Experience in the design/development of active motion controlled hardware.
  • Experience in the design and manufacture of electronic circuit card assemblies.
