Responsibilities

As a Project Engineer in Gresham Smith's Water Resources Group, you will be responsible for:

  • Engineering planning and design and/or leadership for the execution of water and wastewater projects, including conveyance and treatment.
  • Lead junior staff, prepare work schedules, and assign specific duties.
  • Oversee the production of reports, plans, and specifications for design projects.
  • Manage projects or assist project manager, including supporting pursuits and attending interviews for pursuits, client management, project scope development, project planning, organizing, change management, inter-discipline coordination, production coordination, team leadership, financial management, project quality control, and delivery.
  • Maintain healthy client relationships and possess solid operational insight for driving projects and executing deliverables.
  • Understand project goals and clearly communicate them to project teams to ensure client expectations are consistently achieved.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or like degree with relevant experience.
  • 5-8 years experience in environmental/water resources engineering consulting for local government/municipal or industrial clients.
  • Licensure is required.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to lead, develop and deliver highly persuasive presentations that build client confidence and result in securing favorable design contracts.
  • A strong understanding of engineering principles related to water and wastewater conveyance and treatment.
  • Proven experience in developing project plans, anticipating and addressing project issues, leading meetings with clients, and directing the completion of technical reports.
