Position Requirements:
- Mandatory CPR Certification
- Current License as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Preferred 1-2 years of experience in a long-term care setting
- Strong physical and mental health
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 40 pounds unassisted
- Proficient in following both oral and written instructions
- Adept in providing general supervision of responsibilities
Reporting Structure:
The Speech Language Pathologist will report directly to the Rehabilitation Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of speech therapy practices, techniques, and relevant anatomy.
- Maintain and operate therapy equipment effectively.
- Provide treatment and rehabilitation services to patients with speech and language disorders.
- Conduct therapeutic exercises with residents.
- Follow treatment plans as directed by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist, adhering to established practice standards.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes, sharing observations with the team and the supervising Speech Language Pathologist.
- Document resident progress and responses to treatment.
Contribute to the development of individualized teaching plans based on assessed needs, evaluate the effectiveness of teaching methods, involve family members when appropriate, and communicate outcomes to the team and supervising Speech Language Pathologist.
