Senior Estimator Job Description

Byrne Construction Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team in San Antonio. As a key member of our estimating team, you will play a crucial role in helping us grow our capabilities on design-bid-build and design-build projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and ethical behavior when representing the company.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate time, cost, and labor estimates for projects.
  • Perform portions of estimates for multi-discipline projects, including scope determinations and accurate quantity surveys.
  • Solicit subcontractor and/or vendor quotes and evaluate them for scope and accuracy.
  • Lead meetings with subcontractors to develop complete scopes and discuss strategy.
  • Perform risk and contract management responsibilities as required on bids.
  • Assist in developing a strategy to achieve minority participation requirements.
  • Review total estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation.
  • Monitor comparison of estimated costs to actual costs.
  • Research and promote continuous improvement in developing more efficient estimating methods.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience required.
  • Passionate about the profession, dedicated to winning work, and willing to take pride and ownership of work product.
  • Field experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrate the ability to either lead or be a part of a team for multiple projects and pursuits.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or related degree desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be detail-oriented, technically sound, and have good communication skills.
  • Applicant must be familiar with both conceptual and self-perform estimating.
  • Local candidates preferred.
