Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

This is a per diem Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) position at Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana. The CRNA will administer anesthesia to patients during surgical, obstetrical, and other pain-producing clinical procedures under the supervision of a physician. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and possess a strong commitment to patient safety and care.
Responsibilities- Administer anesthesia to patients during surgical, obstetrical, and other pain-producing clinical procedures.
- Assess patients before, during, and after administering anesthesia.
- Ensure patient safety and administer anesthesia following accepted practice techniques.
- Act as a liaison to surgeons, anesthesiologists, co-workers, patients, and families.
- Participate in department quality assurance initiatives and activities of professional development.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, and adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed.
- Master's degree from a school of nurse anesthesia accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
- License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice.
- Certification through the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
The CRNA will work in a patient care area, with exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. The incumbent will work in an area where patients enter, work directly with patients, and/or work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
