Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Culinary Specialist is responsible for the preparation and presentation of dishes, adhering to recipes and menu specifications established by the management. This role is essential in maintaining an efficient kitchen environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting in the organization and setup of kitchen stations.
  • Preparing various food items, including cleaning, chopping ingredients, and cooking main courses, desserts, appetizers, and salads.
  • Plating dishes according to established presentation standards.
  • Working across different kitchen stations as required.
  • Collaborating with service staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and cooking tools, and properly storing equipment at the end of shifts.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety standards and regulations in kitchen operations.
  • Labeling food products with appropriate safety dates.
  • Consistently applying food safety protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; culinary certification or vocational training is advantageous.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a line cook in a restaurant setting (excluding fast-food establishments).

Skills and Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Food Handler's/Safe Serve Certificate.
  • Familiarity with various food preparation techniques, including chopping vegetables, portioning meats, filleting fish, and combining salads, herbs, and spices.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent organizational and active listening skills.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Exceptional time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of safe and proper operation of kitchen appliances and utensils.
