Qualcomm is seeking a highly skilled CPU Physical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our CPU Engineering Group, you will work closely with our microarchitecture team to design and implement high-performance CPU architectures that meet aggressive power, area, and performance goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with CPU microarchitecture team to understand specifications and design trade-offs in pipeline and structure sizing.
- Perform feasibility studies to validate implementability, area, timing, and power.
- Synthesize Verilog RTL into gate-level designs and perform optimizations.
- Perform SynthPlace & Route on designs using industry-standard tools and deliver GDS.
- Optimize designs at various stages from RTL to GDS to meet timing, power, and area goals.
- Validate designs for functional and electrical robustness.
Requirements:
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering; 10 years of practical experience.
- Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture.
- Experience in deep submicron process technology nodes is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of library cells and optimizations.
- Solid understanding of industry-standard tools for synthesis, place & route, and tapeout flows.
- Experience with Synthesis, place, and route, and signoff timing/power analysis.
- Knowledge of high-performance and low-power implementation methods.
- Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture, logic design, and circuits.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to 1/2 mile.
- Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.
- Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
- Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
- Continuous communication, including comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors, both in person and remotely.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
