Position Overview
The Senior Real Estate Loan Closer is tasked with the efficient and comprehensive post-closing examination of funded residential first mortgage and home equity loan files.

This role involves ensuring that loan files are complete, accurately boarded, and prepared for servicing or sale as necessary. The Senior Closer will address any post-closing discrepancies that may arise, escalating issues to management when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough post-closing reviews of funded first mortgage loans and home equity lines of credit, confirming adherence to all closing instructions and loan approval conditions.
- Ensure all loan documents and closing packages are properly scanned into the system and prepare collateral files accordingly.
- Diligently review scanned signed closing packages and communicate any deficiencies to relevant parties.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with rate lock and closing deadlines, shipping closed loan files to the appropriate investor post-review.
- Verify that loan files meet all state and federal regulations, as well as guidelines from the organization, investors, and mortgage insurance providers.

- Ensure all closing documents are executed correctly and obtain any missing or corrected documentation from title companies, attorneys, or members as needed.
- Prepare corrective documentation when necessary and ensure timely receipt of all trailing post-closing documents.

- Review title commitment conditions and confirm that final title policies received do not contain exceptions affecting lien position.

- Maintain regular follow-up on outstanding items to ensure the organization can perfect its mortgage lien against the collateral property.

- Update the Loan Origination System (LOS) with necessary status changes and dates throughout the post-closing review process.
- Generate and analyze pipeline reports to track outstanding first mortgage loan issues.

- Identify, analyze, and resolve any post-closing issues that arise during the review process, coordinating with the Loan Servicing Department as needed.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the organization’s first mortgage and home equity products, guidelines, and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Five to seven years of experience in residential mortgage loan closing or post-closing, with a focus on first mortgages.

- Comprehensive understanding of standard loan programs and documentation requirements for closing and funding loans.

- Strong knowledge of real estate lending concepts, practices, and procedures, including federal and state regulations.

Skills and Abilities
- Ability to interpret and apply real estate lending guidelines and investor requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

- Excellent communication skills for interaction with members, real estate agents, and title companies.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and mortgage loan origination software.

- Ability to work independently, solve problems, and seek guidance when necessary.

- Capacity to work under pressure and meet stringent deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Working Conditions
- Flexibility to work hours as needed, which may extend beyond standard schedules.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. as required.
