Electronics Design Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Design Engineer to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge electronic systems for a wide range of applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electronic systems, including RF and high-speed digital circuits
  • Conceive and evaluate solutions for custom hardware needs
  • Pursue new technical concepts to improve the size, weight, and power (SWaP) of existing solutions
  • Ensure device reliability through rigorous testing under real-world conditions
  • Manage projects and teams, including project planning, resource allocation, and budgeting
Requirements:
  • BS in engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in electronics design and development, with at least 4 years of experience in RF and/or high-speed digital design
  • Proficiency in ASIC design tools, such as Cadence
  • Working knowledge of laboratory test equipment, including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, waveform generators, and vector network analyzers
  • Experience managing projects and teams, including project planning, resource allocation, and budgeting
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring junior staff
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS or beyond in engineering, physics, or related field
  • Extensive knowledge in ASIC technology, including material selection
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools, suitable for concept mockups or component modeling
  • Software development skills, suitable for developing automation tools, test interfaces, etc.
  • Comfortable working with rework tools, such as a soldering iron, hot air pencil, or IR rework station

We offer a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $330,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
