Staff Engineer - Environmental and Energy

Hormel Foods Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer - Environmental and Energy to join our team in Austin, MN or Willmar, MN Corporate Office.

About the Role:

The Staff Engineer - Environmental and Energy will be responsible for supporting energy programs, with a focus on efficiency initiatives. This position will also support the environmental compliance and sustainability programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of utility prorate and tax exemption studies.
  • Identify and support utility efficiency projects, promote best practice implementation, and secure rebates and other conservation incentives.
  • Complete measurement and verification of utility conservation projects.
  • Assure the accurate and timely submittal of various utility and emission reports.
  • Evaluate emerging utility and environmental issues, including developing regulations, and providing guidance related to the scope and impact on the organization.
  • Develop and implement utility and environmental management system components, including development of Strategic Utility Management plans, policy writing, training, and auditing.
  • Provide technical support to assure success of the corporate sustainability programs.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • 2 years of exposure to energy management or energy systems. Experience in an environmental compliance role is preferred.
  • A strong pattern of initiative.
  • Highly developed leadership skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance many tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

Travel: Up to 25%
