About the Role

We are seeking highly skilled attorneys to join our U.S. Litigation team as Staff Attorneys. The successful candidates will participate in impact litigation on reproductive rights in federal and state courts, focusing on improving access to non-discriminatory, high-quality reproductive health care.

The Center for Reproductive Rights is a global human rights organization dedicated to protecting reproductive rights worldwide. Our mission is to ensure that reproductive rights are protected in law as fundamental human rights. With offices in New York City, Washington, D.C., Nairobi, Kenya, Bogota, Colombia, and Geneva, Switzerland, we work to advance legal developments in reproductive rights through game-changing litigation, legal policy, and advocacy work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct all aspects of litigation, including legal research and analysis, drafting of complaints and legal briefs, discovery and motion practice, and handling trials and appeals.
  • Assist in developing new legal theories to advance our strategic priorities.
  • Maintain client and institutional relationships, ensuring compliance with governing legal requirements.
  • Represent us at public events, conferences, and coalition meetings.
  • Collaborate with our Communications and Development teams to provide support and information as needed.
  • Work on other projects, such as legal analyses related to our legislative and advocacy priorities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of legal experience, with five years preferred.
  • Member in good standing of the bar of New York or D.C. based on the office where you are based.
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Outstanding legal analysis skills, including ability to develop complex legal arguments and strategies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including self-motivation, handling multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain expertise in relevant substantive law.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective communication, delegation, and supervision of junior attorneys and paralegals.
  • Commitment to our mission, purpose, and values, as well as experience or knowledge of reproductive rights, racial justice, or other human rights issues.
  • English language fluency required, Spanish a plus.

Compensation

The annual salary for this position begins at $116,000, commensurate with years of experience, reflecting a position based in New York City or Washington, D.C.
