Job Description

The Gibson Center for Behavioral Change is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to fill the position of Recovery Community Center Program Assistant. This role is a crucial part of our team, providing support and assistance to our Program Manager in carrying out daily functions and activities at the Recovery Community Center.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Adhere to Policies and Procedures: Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the policies and procedures of the Gibson Center for Behavioral Change and the Recovery Community Center.
  2. Orient Visitors: Welcome and orient visitors to the facility, informing them of behavioral expectations and program services available.
  3. Make Referrals: Refer visitors to appropriate resources to support their recovery journey.
  4. Maintain High Standards: Demonstrate high standards of personal conduct, modeling accountable relationships and fostering wellness and self-care.
  5. Take Responsibility: Take responsibility for maintaining the integrity of job performance, using work time appropriately and giving the best effort on the job.
  6. Respect Rights and Dignity: Respect the rights and dignity of all Recovery Community Center visitors.
  7. Report Incidents: Report behavioral issues or incidents to the Program Manager on appropriate forms.
  8. Assist with Advisory Board Functions: Assist the Program Manager with Recovery Community Center Advisory Board functions as needed.
  9. Ensure Supplies: Ensure Recovery Community Center supplies are stocked.
  10. Display Appropriate Behavior: Display appropriate and ethical behavior at all times.
  11. Document Data: Document any data required by the Program Manager or agency leadership.
  12. Facilitate Recovery Activities: Facilitate recovery activities, including support groups, and assist with recreational activities as scheduled or as indicated by visitor needs/activity levels.
  13. Maintain a Clean and Safe Environment: Assist in ensuring maintenance of a clean and safe Recovery Community Center environment, including evacuations drills and procedures.
  14. Answer Phone Calls: Answer phone calls as appropriate.
  15. Intervene in Crisis Situations: Intervene in crisis situations and/or de-escalate potentially disruptive situations promptly, notifying the Program Manager.
  16. Ensure Equipment Functionality: Ensure all equipment is in proper working order and not being abused.
  17. Be On Time and Flexible: Be on time for all shifts and be willing to work flexible hours.
  18. Attend Mandatory Meetings and Trainings: Attend mandatory staff meetings and agency trainings as scheduled.
  19. Perform Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision:

The Program Manager will provide primary supervision of the position. In the absence of the Program Manager, the Program Assistant will report to the Director of Behavioral Services Residential.

Qualifications:

This employee must have good verbal and written communication skills, a High School Diploma or GED, and good prioritization skills and the ability to multi-task while maintaining a recovery-centered environment. Employees with felonies in their background must have an exception through the Missouri Department of Mental Health's Exceptions Committee.
