Aircraft Tooling Design Specialist

About the Job
As an Aircraft Tooling Design Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and documenting design reviews both internally and with external suppliers. You will work interdepartmentally as needed and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that tooling designs meet engineering and manufacturing requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review tooling requests, engineering models, and drawings to develop new tooling designs or modifications
- Develop concepts for tooling in support of new engineering development
- Follow existing procedures utilizing the Honda Aircraft Company tooling manual to develop 3D models and 2D drawings to design production tooling to support program requirements
- Develop and write tooling usage guidelines for tooling functionality
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external tooling design reviews to ensure compliance with Engineering and Manufacturing requirements
- Recommend improvements to existing tooling design processes, procedures, and philosophies
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a technical field; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience with aircraft tool design; automotive experience also considered
- Proficient in CATIA with minimum 10,000 hours
- ASME GDTP (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Professional) Certificate preferred
- Machining/fabrication experience and/or CNC programming experience a plus
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask
Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year
