About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Facilitator to join our team at the SBCS Youth Development Academy (YDA) located at the East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility. As a Group Facilitator, you will be responsible for providing evidence-based group services to youth in custody, promoting positive youth development, and supporting the well-being and prosperity of our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate daily, evidence-based groups for youth sentenced to YDA at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility.
  • Complete training, certification, and successful implementation of various CBT-based group curricula.
  • Available to work non-traditional work hours, including evenings up to 8pm and Saturdays to support staff coverage.
  • Maintain case records and client files in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database as required by SBCS and its funding sources.
  • Provide biweekly progress reports for all classes and group sessions completed to support youth successfully completing commitment programs.
  • Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings with other team members.
  • Coordinate contacts with Probation and other public and private organizations and individuals, as necessary to effectively serve clients.
  • Monthly statistical reports of services provided as required by SBCS.
  • Conduct outreach to target population in order to effectively reach those in need of services.
  • Participate in special projects and activities as related to agency's goals and objectives.
  • Attend all agency required meetings and trainings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, social work, or closely related field OR a minimum of 2 years related experience providing direct service to justice involved youth (14 to 24 years old).
  • Ability to work with a diverse cultural population.
  • Experience working with justice-involved youth highly recommended.
  • Shared life experience and/or relevant experience focused on youth and transition aged youth involved in the justice system (ages 14-24) highly desirable.
  • Ability to work within an institutional setting to create a therapeutic environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
