Job Summary

ICF seeks a Health Specialist to serve as a liaison between the Regional and Central Office of Head Start (OHS) and the National Center on Health and Wellness. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise, strategies, and resources to Regional Office and Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) staff on comprehensive health services, including mental health and environmental health and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison between OHS, the National Center responsible for health and wellness, and other relevant agencies.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, strategies, and resources to Regional Office and TTA staff on comprehensive health services.
  • Develop and implement strategies for connecting with grantee health managers and/or coordinators in the Region.
  • Aggregate, analyze, and disseminate regional and grantee health data from existing government systems to identify emerging trends impacting Head Start grantees.
  • Develop and provide presentations and training on topics related to early childhood health, mental health, safety, and other related topics.
  • Provide direct service to individual grantees, at the direction of the Regional Office.
  • Support emerging OHS initiatives and priorities.
Basic Qualifications
  • A minimum of a BA or a BS from an accredited university or college in public health, health education, maternal and child health, health administration, or a related degree.
  • A minimum of three years' experience related to health services in early childhood programs such as Head Start/Early Head Start, maternal and child health, school health, or community health programs.
  • 1+ years of experience analyzing health-related data and helping programs make data-driven decisions.
  • 1+ years of experience providing training and technical assistance related to health services for children birth to five.
  • 1+ years of experience facilitating group discussions and presenting to a range of audiences.
  • 1+ years of experience communicating, both orally and in writing, to various audiences.
Preferred Experience/Skills
  • Knowledge of Head Start performance standards and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience working within a Head Start Program.
Professional Skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Experience using virtual platforms and technologies, such as Skype, Zoom, Adobe, and Teams.
