Key Responsibilities
  • Confirm appointments and insurance details; accurately input registration data into the system.
  • Conduct registration processes for both new and returning patients, ensuring all necessary demographic, insurance, and payment information is collected.
  • Provide explanations regarding insurance eligibility and coverage to patients as needed.
  • Manage copay collections, maintain cash drawer accuracy, and document financial totals on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments owed to the organization.
  • Verify insurance details three days prior to appointments, ensuring daily verification quotas are met.
  • Adapt to varying patient volumes and physician schedules with flexibility in work assignments.
  • Act as a communication bridge between patients and the billing department to resolve any billing inquiries.
  • Utilize the patient portal to retrieve registrations.
  • Apply knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in orthopedics.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; an associate degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office setting, with a focus on patient registration.
  • Experience with EMR systems is mandatory; familiarity with MEDENT is advantageous.
Physical Requirements

This position necessitates manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. The role involves standing, sitting, and walking, with occasional lifting of items weighing up to 20 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing capabilities are essential.
