Job Summary:

MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Staff member to join the Advanced Lasercom Systems and Operations Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laser physics, engineering, and communications, with experience in analysis, modeling, and simulation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers to develop understanding and intuition of system or subsystem performance
  • Perform system trade studies, providing analysis and recommendations to shape architectural development and system design
  • Assess, maintain, and improve the Group's analysis toolkits using various programming languages
  • Assist in new concept development and provide analysis/simulations to prove out and understand limitations of concepts
  • Document, communicate, and generate visualizations of results

Requirements:

  • Master's of Science in Electrical or other Engineering discipline, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or similar discipline, with experience analyzing, modeling, interpreting, and visualizing data or a Bachelor's of Science with 5+ years of experience
  • Experience with MATLAB, or a willingness to learn MATLAB and experience with similar tools
  • Experience with modern software engineering tools, including code repositories, version control, issue tracking, with a preference for Atlassian tools
  • Programming/scripting experience with numerical simulation/analysis applications, languages to include python and C/C++ at a minimum
  • Background in communications, laser physics/engineering, atmospheric physics, and/or control systems
