Ski Lift Attendant

Position Overview:

Sugarloaf is in search of passionate outdoor enthusiasts to become part of our Mountain Operations Team as Lift Operators for the upcoming winter season.

As a Lift Operator at Sugarloaf, you will play a crucial role in ensuring guest safety and satisfaction by operating our ski lifts. This includes conducting thorough inspections and safety tests before the lifts open for the day. You will also be responsible for maintaining the lift line areas, including shoveling and raking snow to keep the environment safe and accessible.

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is reliable, energetic, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills to engage with guests in a friendly and enjoyable manner. This role is primarily outdoors, and you will be working in various weather conditions. While prior experience is not necessary, we are committed to providing on-the-job training.

This is a full-time seasonal position that offers an end-of-season bonus based on 5% of total wages earned throughout the winter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the designated lift following established procedures and instructions to ensure safe transportation for guests and team members.
  • Regularly assist with snow removal tasks, including shoveling and raking, to maintain proper ramps and work areas.
  • Participate in pre-operational inspections of the lift, which involves checking and maintaining cleanliness in the area, monitoring information boards, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
  • Become familiar with the ski area layout, including lifts and trails, and understand the roles of other departments.
  • Provide courteous assistance and guidance to guests as needed.
  • Effectively communicate any issues to supervisors and maintenance staff while demonstrating initiative in managing routine and emergency situations.
  • Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Meet service level objectives and departmental goals as outlined by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate a friendly demeanor, strong observational skills, and a commitment to safety.
  • Must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work independently while adhering to established protocols and safety measures.
  • Availability to work during days, weekends, and holidays is required.
