Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the physical structures and equipment within the organization. This role involves upholding the company's standards for safety and quality, particularly in relation to food safety protocols. The supervisor will oversee maintenance tasks and ensure the proper functioning of all mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the mechanical operations of all equipment, including start-ups, changeovers, shutdowns, breakdowns, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
  • Plan, schedule, assign, and supervise the maintenance team in maintaining all equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure compliance with sanitation schedules.
  • Report any food safety issues to the appropriate management personnel.
  • Prepare reports on equipment downtime and maintenance work orders.
  • Inspect ongoing work, completed tasks, and existing conditions; oversee work performed by external contractors.
  • Collaborate with management on facility improvements involving new equipment and systems.
  • Participate as a member of the Food Safety and HACCP teams, adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety guidelines.
  • Have the authority to halt production if food safety concerns arise.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on processing equipment.
  • Install new processing equipment as needed.
  • Perform painting and structural repairs on buildings.
  • Request necessary tools, equipment, and supplies.

Supervisory Duties

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor directly oversees the maintenance team, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and legal requirements. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and evaluating team members, as well as addressing performance issues and resolving conflicts.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a two-year certificate from a technical school or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Have a solid understanding of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Show problem-solving abilities in practical situations.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include regular standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. Candidates must be able to lift and move weights ranging from 10 to 100 pounds and possess specific vision abilities necessary for the role.

Work Environment

The work environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, and varying weather conditions. Noise levels are typically high, and candidates should be prepared for potential exposure to fumes and chemicals.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $70,000
