Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and security of the school premises. This position involves proactively identifying and addressing facility-related concerns to foster a safe and enjoyable environment for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility.
  • Complete daily cleaning checklists for assigned areas and adhere to deep cleaning schedules.
  • Inform management of any significant repair needs or enhancements to building systems.
  • Secure the premises daily by turning off lights and conducting thorough walkthroughs to ensure all windows are closed and locked at the end of the shift.
  • Follow established procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
  • Perform basic electrical, plumbing, and handyman tasks, including painting, furniture repairs, and light carpentry.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of maintenance supplies.
  • Request necessary supplies or equipment for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in moving heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies during classroom and building relocations.
  • Ensure all work complies with established health and safety standards and report any hazards to management.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while effectively collaborating with a team.
  • Clear walkways and steps of snow and ice during inclement weather, using appropriate materials to ensure safety.
  • Set up and dismantle event spaces, including arranging or removing decorations, tables, chairs, and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and interruptions throughout the day.
  • Maintain physical stamina to be on your feet for extended periods.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum of one year of cleaning experience preferred.

Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work outdoors and be exposed to various weather conditions.
  • Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required.
  • Must possess a valid, clean driver's license.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to move freely throughout the building without restrictions.
