  • Deliver an exceptional experience by engaging with customers using your expertise and training.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service by identifying customer needs and recommending suitable products and services.
  • Handle all aspects of point-of-sale transactions, including cash, credit, and check sales, as well as returns and exchanges.
  • Assist with guest carry-out service for merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stay informed about local pet-related events and resources.
  • Demonstrate a passion for animal welfare and maintain a high level of integrity.
  • Familiarize yourself with new products and services to effectively engage customers.
  • Respond professionally to inquiries regarding products, services, and pricing.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
  • Inform customers about upcoming adoption events and explain our commitment to pet adoption.
  • Connect customers with the appropriate team members to enhance their experience.
  • Stay updated on current promotions and special services.
  • Participate in seasonal training relevant to pet care.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Evaluate customer inquiries and refer to the Leader on Duty when necessary.
  • Be prepared to bend, kneel, lift (up to 50 pounds), and stand for extended periods.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is generally preferred. A minimum of 2 years of experience in animal nutrition, care, or wellness is required, along with at least one year in a retail environment. Basic computer skills and proficiency in accessing product information are essential.

Work Environment

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although stocking and customer carry-outs may require brief outdoor activity. This position involves physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds, with significant time spent in direct contact with customers.
