Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, candidates must effectively fulfill the following essential duties:

  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences by engaging with guests using your expertise and training.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service by identifying customer needs and recommending suitable products and services.
  • Handle all aspects of point-of-sale transactions, including cash and credit sales, returns, and exchanges.
  • Assist with merchandise carry-out, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Stay informed about local pet-related events and resources.
  • Demonstrate a passion for animal welfare and uphold integrity in all interactions.
  • Maintain knowledge of new products and services to effectively engage customers.
  • Respond professionally to inquiries regarding products and services.
  • Foster a positive culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Inform customers about upcoming adoption events and promote our adoption philosophy.
  • Connect customers with the appropriate team members to enhance their experience.
  • Stay updated on current promotions and seasonal training.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Evaluate guest inquiries and refer to leadership as necessary.
  • Perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is generally preferred. A minimum of two years of experience in animal nutrition and care is required, along with at least one year in a retail environment. Basic computer skills and proficiency in relevant systems are essential.

Work Environment

The majority of duties are performed indoors, with some responsibilities requiring brief outdoor activities. This position involves physical tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods, with a focus on direct customer interaction.
