Job Description

As a key member of our Business and Legal Affairs department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing business strategies to support the growth and success of our game shows and related consumer products.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Build Deal Structures: Collaborate with our creative, production, finance, marketing, and publicity teams to develop and build deal structures for game shows and related consumer products.
  • Analyze, Negotiate, and Draft Agreements: Analyze, negotiate, and draft various development and production-related agreements, including rights, network license agreements, talent, production services, location, consultant, and vendor agreements.
  • Provide Business Affairs Counsel: Advise and work closely with colleagues in creative, production, finance, marketing, publicity, consumer products, and other departments to provide business affairs counsel on a range of matters, including deal structures, physical production, rights and clearances, music licensing, distribution of television and digital content, sweepstakes, sponsorships, product integration, new media initiatives, copyright/trademark issues, and other production, marketing, advertising, and licensing matters.
  • Negotiate Content License Agreements and Acquisition Agreements: Negotiate content license agreements and acquisition agreements to support the growth and success of our game shows and related consumer products.
  • Interface with Internal Departments: Interface on a day-to-day basis with various internal departments and colleagues to provide business affairs counsel and support the growth and success of our game shows and related consumer products.
  • Analyze Business and Legal Issues: Analyze business and legal issues related to productions, including reviewing budgets and other financial information.
  • Provide Thoughtful Legal Advice: Provide thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues related to productions.
  • Develop and Maintain Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with agencies, law firms, production companies, and other relevant industry contacts to support the growth and success of our game shows and related consumer products.
Requirements:
  • JD and Substantial Experience: A JD and substantial experience (5+ years) working in the business affairs or business/legal affairs department at a TV, cable or broadcast network, a streaming service, or a production company or entertainment-focused law firm.
  • Cover Letter Required: A cover letter is required upon application.
  • Exceptional Understanding of Licensing and Coproduction Agreements: An exceptional understanding of licensing and coproduction agreements and all other distribution-related and/or acquisition agreements.
  • Strong Legal Acumen: Strong legal acumen with the ability to demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Working Knowledge of Entertainment Guild Rules and Regulations: A working knowledge of entertainment guild rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with Production Clearance Issues: Familiarity with production clearance issues and the ability to handle copyright and trademark matters.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborative Style: A collaborative style with a proven record of building strong relationships, both internally and externally at all levels.
  • Excellent Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to respond to matters in a quick yet accurate manner.
  • Self-Starter: A self-starter with an excellent work ethic and commitment to professionalism.
