About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical EIT II to join our team at Smith Seckman Reid. As a key member of our engineering team, you will assist senior engineers in executing technical activities on assigned projects and learn discipline-specific technical standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Learns company technical standards and procedures during project execution
  • Observes and learns industry standards and practices of design analyses using industry software
  • Assists in design process execution and analysis on assigned projects, requesting assistance from senior design staff when needed
  • Assists with design production using Revit and/or CADD, overseeing design development by designers as assigned
  • Performs computer-based engineering calculations and system design functions under supervision
  • Coordinates project designs with other disciplines to determine equipment needs, provide input for operating procedures, and provide technical information
  • Attends and participates in meetings with owners, clients, or architects as needed
  • Develops man-hour budgets and performs tasks in accordance with the budget
  • Assists project team in developing technical documentation, proposals, and presentations
  • Communicates design requirements with architects, contractors, and equipment sales representatives to determine project scope and feasibility
  • Accompanies senior design staff on project job site visits to investigate field conditions and monitor progress based on design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, schematics, and engineering reports
  • Attends internal and external training and educational opportunities to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas
  • May train EIT I on industry software, engineering standards, and/or codes
  • May assist the Project Manager in facilitating project duties as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college with two years applicable experience
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and certified EIT with a state licensure board
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific software (i.e., Trace700 and SKM)
  • Knowledge of drafting and design procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations
  • Interpersonal Skills - ability to interact positively and work effectively with others
  • Comprehension - ability to understand information, ideas, and direction presented in writing and/or verbally communicated
  • Written Communication Skills - ability to clearly deliver a message through written words using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Speech Clarity - ability to speak clearly and in a common language so that others can understand you
  • Detail-Oriented - ability to achieve accuracy and thoroughness when accomplishing a task; pays attention to details and is able to understand the cause of a certain outcome
  • Judgement and Decision-Making Skills - ability to make reasoned judgments that are logical and well thought out; constructively questioning and analyzing information in order to make the best conclusion
  • Technical Writing Skills - skilled in the area of summarizing or explaining technical information in a clear, concise, and accurate way, communicating the point intended
