Seattle, Washington, United States Amazon Full time
About the Role

The Enterprise Engineering team is at the forefront of revolutionizing workplace dynamics, owning globally scaled and innovative collaboration solutions that support the endeavors of Amazonians around the globe.

Serving as the cornerstone, our team enables every facet of Amazon's multifaceted business.

We relentlessly push the boundaries of performance, scalability, security, and contribute significantly to amplifying the overall value of Amazon.

Your indispensable contribution to our team will be a catalyst in Amazon's success, as we ardently work towards delivering the next generation of workplace collaboration and productivity tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage a high-performing software development team.
  • Set and communicate the team's strategic direction and vision, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the development of cross-functional software solutions, ensuring projects align with the business's long-term goals and comply with Amazon's high standards.
  • Act as the main point of contact between your team and other internal stakeholders, including leadership and adjacent teams, to ensure projects are prioritized appropriately and meet company standards.
  • Evaluate and assure the quality of software solutions.
  • Understand and oversee the architecture of the systems your team develops, making sure they solve the intended business problems efficiently.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize project delivery and system performance, reducing the risk of failure modes like misaligned requirements or insufficient testing.
  • Mentor and support the growth of your team members, particularly in areas like technical skills enhancement and career development.
A Day in the Life

As a SDM, your day is characterized by a dynamic mix of strategic planning and hands-on management.

You'll start by reviewing the progress of current projects with your team, discussing technical challenges, and brainstorming solutions.

Midday, you might engage with other leaders across Amazon to sync on cross-departmental initiatives or represent your team in strategic planning sessions.

Throughout the day, you'll provide guidance on technical architecture decisions, review code or design documents, and help your team prioritize tasks.

Your goal is to ensure that your team's efforts align seamlessly with both immediate needs and the broader vision for Amazon's Enterprise Engineering solutions.
