Strategic Studies Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified Professor of Strategic Studies to join our team at the Air War College Center for Strategic Deterrence Studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching electives on strategic deterrence and nuclear deterrence operations to students at the Air War College and Air Command and Staff College.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and teach curriculum for strategic deterrence and nuclear deterrence operations courses
- Participate in planning, developing, and implementing course content, instructional methods, and testing/evaluation instruments
- Provide detailed feedback to students and documentation of student progress
- Serve as subject-matter expert and advisor to military colleges and Air University on subjects related to strategic deterrence and nuclear deterrence operations
- Make recommendations on educational methods, program content, and curriculum development
- Guide and stimulate discussion, and evaluate participation and contribution of students
- Advises student research on major research projects and ensures research studies are conducted in line with the latest US government policies and strategies
- Pursue individual research in area of expertise and write scholarly works for external peer-reviewed publications
- Ensure Air University is using educational best practices to leverage technology and develop sound methodology
- Establish and maintain professional contacts with educators, military officers, and institutions related to area of expertise
- Provide advice and counsel to Course Directors, Department Directors, and Deans on topics related to area(s) of expertise
- Organize and conduct faculty development activities related to research activities, curriculum development initiatives, and technology application in the curriculum
- Review and provide scholarly opinion on draft Air Force publications
- Attend meetings and participate in organizational activities intended to advance the state of knowledge in area of expertise or to set and maintain professional standards of performance and promote professional ethics
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic studies and nuclear deterrence operations, with experience in teaching and curriculum development. A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required.
