Volunteers of America-Greater New York is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the Recreation Assistant position. This role involves working in a dynamic environment, providing support to clients and staff members alike. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively in a team setting.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Implement recreational activities that promote client engagement and motivation.
  2. Maintain a safe and healthy environment, adhering to established regulations and guidelines.
  3. Serve as a positive role model for clients, demonstrating respect and professionalism at all times.
  4. Calmly and effectively resolve conflicts between clients, using non-violent intervention techniques when necessary.
  5. Teach and demonstrate various sports and activities to groups and individuals, promoting physical fitness and well-being.
  6. Manage recreation equipment, ensuring accurate inventory and minimizing waste.
  7. Refer clients requiring additional support or services to designated personnel, ensuring seamless coordination.
Requirements
  • Degree equivalent to two years of college and one year of related experience or high school diploma and two years of related experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly in Spanish.

This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $19.23 and an outstanding benefits package, including comprehensive health coverage, life insurance, and education assistance programs.
