Job Summary

UCI Health is seeking a highly skilled Director of Professional Coding Quality to oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of a coding training program for billing providers. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines, UHDDS definitions, and AMA CPT and Modifier rules. This role requires excellent leadership and fiscal management skills, as well as the ability to create a goal-oriented climate of teamwork and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee professional coding across the UCI Health Professional Enterprise
Direct the planning, development, and maintenance of a coding training program for billing providers
Identify nuances between different departments and select coding champions
Assess opportunity areas and maintain and distribute educational content
Ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines and annual updates
Partner with Compliance and Clinical Informatics on development and distribution of content

Requirements

Strong knowledge of ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines, UHDDS definitions, and AMA CPT and Modifier rules
Project management and advanced software skills
Broad knowledge of various medical specialties and appreciates the complexities of subspecialty coding practices
Excellent leadership and fiscal management skills
Ability to create a goal-oriented climate of teamwork and collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

1-2 years' experience in an Academic medical center
