Mammography Technologist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to perform diagnostic mammography procedures and provide compassionate care to patients undergoing breast imaging examinations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography examinations according to established protocols.
  • Position patients correctly and operate mammography equipment to obtain high-quality images.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures, addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Review and evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring proper positioning and exposure.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare providers to discuss patient histories and examination results.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, documenting procedures, findings, and patient information.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including radiation safety and quality control measures.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of student technologists and other staff members as needed.
  • Stay updated on advancements in mammography technology and procedures through continuing education and training.
Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography.
  • State licensure as a Mammography Technologist (where applicable).
  • Strong knowledge of mammography principles, techniques, and equipment operation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
  • Willingness to adhere to ethical and professional standards in healthcare practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in mammography or breast imaging.
  • Proficiency in using Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for image storage and retrieval.
  • Experience with 3D mammography (tomosynthesis) technology.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Work Environment:

The Mammography Technologist will primarily work in a clinical setting, such as a hospital, imaging center, or outpatient clinic. The role may involve standing for extended periods and assisting patients of varying physical abilities.
