Position Summary

The Universal Banker II role is pivotal in delivering exceptional customer experiences to both existing and prospective clients. Individuals in this position will demonstrate effective communication abilities and possess advanced knowledge of the products and services provided. This role is responsible for identifying referral opportunities that lead to outcomes synonymous with outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively seeks opportunities to enhance customer relationships to meet both personal and branch objectives.
  • Confidently drive sales by fostering relationships, providing excellent service, and leveraging product knowledge. Monitor and track sales and opportunities using customer information software.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of personal products, trusts, HSAs, IRAs, and business products and services.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in non-real estate secured lending.
  • Develop a solid understanding of real estate secured lending.
  • Effectively assess consumer needs through needs-based questioning to strengthen customer relationships.
  • Refer clients to our banking partners utilizing skills acquired through internal sales training.
  • Meet or exceed personal and team objectives as established.
  • Exhibit strong decision-making capabilities and conduct sales activities with minimal supervision.
  • Engage in onsite visits to clients to promote various programs and services.
  • Participate in outbound teleconsulting to nurture and expand existing client relationships.
  • Accurately process customer transactions while ensuring compliance and safeguarding against fraud.
  • Engage in community groups or events to cultivate networking opportunities.
  • Participate in bank-sponsored community initiatives.
  • Train and mentor new hires on teller and/or banker systems.
  • Actively engage in weekly meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Serve as relief and/or backup Universal Banker II at various locations.
  • Exemplify and promote Midland States Bank's core values that support the bank's culture.
  • Complete all assigned learning activities in a timely manner.
  • This role may require occasional travel for training and team meetings, as well as periodic travel to various locations as needed.
  • Collaboration may necessitate working in a Midland office to support internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated sales and customer service experience.
  • This position requires registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and transport coin and currency bags as necessary (weighing between 25lbs and 50lbs).
