Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Billing Representative II to join our team at Northshore. As a key member of our occupational health department, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing and collection of patient accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform weekly visit reconciliation and process charges in occupational health application.
  • Generate weekly error reports and follow up with occupational health staff for correction.
  • Update manager of occupational health on error trends and process charges when errors are corrected.
  • Create and review invoices on a weekly basis and post invoices, print, and mail to non-workers comp clients monthly.
  • Send workers comp documents to a third party for billing and collection on a weekly basis.
  • Act as main point of contact for client billing questions and monitor client billing Accounts Receivable for delinquencies.
  • Utilize report tools to follow up on unpaid claims, generate reminders and collection notices as needed, and place delinquent clients on a cash only basis.
  • Audit claims and registration information to ensure accuracy and make necessary corrections.
  • Review and perform refunds and/or adjustments on accounts with credit balances and contact third-party payers to resolve overpayments.
  • Respond to and research billing/collecting issues and resolve them to ensure accurate insurance payment and patient balance amounts.
  • Perform adjustments for eligible accounts and accept credit card information for payment on accounts.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience with strong phone etiquette
  • Minimum one year of previous hospital patient accounting or customer service experience
  • Knowledge of governmental billing and reimbursement practices
  • Knowledge of a hospital's revenue cycle from patient scheduling and registration through billing and collection
  • Minimum of one year of Business Office and Clinical experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  • Patient care tech/CMA experience
