Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Billing Representative II to join our team at NorthShore University HealthSystem. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing and collection of patient accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform weekly visit reconciliation and generate error reports to ensure accurate billing and collection.
  • Process charges and create invoices on a weekly basis.
  • Post invoices, print, and mail invoices to non-workers comp clients monthly.
  • Act as the main point of contact for client billing questions and monitor client billing accounts receivable for delinquencies.
  • Utilize various report tools to follow up on unpaid claims and generate reminders and collection notices as needed.
  • Audit claims and registration information to ensure accuracy and make necessary corrections.
  • Review and perform refunds and adjustments on accounts with credit balances.
  • Respond to and research billing and collecting issues to ensure accurate insurance payment and patient balance amounts.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable and the collection cycle, third-party payer reimbursement policies, refunds, and services as a liaison for internal and external customers.
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience with strong phone etiquette
  • Minimum one year of previous hospital patient accounting or customer service experience
  • Knowledge of governmental billing and reimbursement practices
  • Knowledge of a hospital's revenue cycle from patient scheduling and registration through billing and collection
