Scope

As a Mechanical Assembler Lead, you will oversee an Assembly Team in the production and installation of sub-assemblies required for HVAC units. You will work within standard methods and procedures, making decisions on the sequence of operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work from computerized Quality Management System (QMS) components, including production schedules, inventory records, pull lists, bills of materials, Engineering Change Notifications (ECN), random cycle count lists, and work instructions.
  • Conduct start-of-shift team meetings to communicate schedules, priorities, safety, and production issues, ensuring all team members are aware of shift requirements and pending issues.
  • Consult production schedules, pull lists, and bills of materials, and manually modify records in the MRP system to move materials committed to future builds to orders currently in production, as required, to maintain workflow.
  • Assign work in accordance with production schedules and standard procedures, assisting in resolving problems related to sub-assemblies, installation, and schedule adjustments.
  • Report material shortages and ensure purchasing is aware of immediate material requirements that may impact work-in-progress and production schedules.
  • Ensure accurate recording of physical inventory items in the computerized inventory system, including Defects Per Unit (DPU) and Material Review Board (MRB) inventory awaiting disposition. Monitor and clear ECNs to ensure accuracy of pull lists and kitting operations.
  • Perform departmental work assignments to maintain workflow in base assembly functions.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Track hours of individual job numbers, ensuring progressive productivity is achieved. Inspect each unit before movement to the next line function, validating part numbers, revisions, and quantity, and inspecting parts for damage.
  • Ensure team members are trained in the operation of required equipment, job duties, and any range of functions required to complete Base Assembler tasks.
  • Report safety concerns, work infractions, training requirements, and performance issues to the supervisor, recommending action in accordance with standard procedures.
Requirements
  • Use computer and related systems software and peripherals, hand and hand power tools, clamps, crane, silicone gun, pallet jack, pneumatic tools, and protective devices.
  • Minimum Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): Safety Glasses - ANSI Z87.1, Ear Protection - ANSI S3.19, Knee Pads, Gloves - ANSI Cut, Foot Protection, Steel Toe - ASTM F.
