Clinical Laboratory Technician

UPMC - Pittsburgh Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist to enhance our exceptional healthcare team. This role involves rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and may require travel to support various facilities.
Compensation:
- Medical Lab Technician: $19.71-$30.28/hour
- Medical Laboratory Scientist: $24.74-$34.48/hour
- Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist: $26.48-$39.25/hour

We provide a comprehensive rewards package and opportunities for career advancement. This position is also eligible for a substantial sign-on bonus based on the role and commitment duration:
- Medical Lab Technician: $7,000 for a two-year commitment; $10,000 for a three-year commitment
- Medical Laboratory Scientist: $10,000 for a two-year commitment; $15,000 for a three-year commitment
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage professionally with all laboratory clients, ensuring timely and courteous responses to inquiries.
- Adhere to established testing protocols, ensuring precision and accuracy in all laboratory procedures.
- Independently conduct Moderately Complex or Waived tests, with High Complexity testing performed under supervision.
- Demonstrate reliability and sound judgment, prioritizing departmental needs effectively.
- Perform and document Quality Control as per established guidelines, reporting any unusual incidents to supervisory staff.
- Assist in training new staff and students, following established operational protocols.
- Manage laboratory supplies efficiently, ensuring cost-effective use of materials.
- Process specimens accurately, entering patient information and test orders into the laboratory information system.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to compliance standards.
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory instruments, performing calibrations and troubleshooting as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Medical Lab Technician:
Associate's degree in laboratory science with certification or eligibility from an accredited institution. Minimum of 6 months experience in a clinical laboratory is required. - Medical Laboratory Scientist:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with successful completion of a CAHEA accredited Medical Technology program or equivalent experience. A minimum of 1 year experience in a hospital laboratory is preferred.
Licensure and Certifications:
New York License is required for positions located in New York. ASCP certifications are preferred for various roles.
